Ripple Enters the Agentic Payments Race

Ripple’s investment signals a deeper push into what many are calling the agentic economy, where AI agents act as independent economic participants. These systems are moving beyond recommendations and into execution, managing payments, treasury flows, and capital allocation.

t54 describes itself as a trust layer for the agentic economy. Founder Chandler Fang explained the company’s mission in a press release:

As agents become autonomous participants, we need agent-native financial primitives – verifiable agent identity (KYA), real-time risk assessment, and programmable accountability – built for how agents operate.

The platform is built around four core pillars:

Identity and verification, including developer checks and human agent binding.
Risk and fraud monitoring powered by real time behavioral analysis.
Agent native credit underwriting.
An integrated operating layer combining identity, risk, and settlement.

The company employs 12 people and plans to hire three more, including two engineers. Founder Chandler Fang confirmed this was the company’s first external capital raise and said no investor took a board or advisory seat.

Blockchain Integration Across XRPL and Beyond

While t54 positions itself as rail agnostic, blockchain plays a central role in its system. The company uses blockchain as a settlement and accountability layer for programmable transactions.

Its infrastructure currently runs on XRP Ledger, Solana, and Base. It also developed an open source secure layer for Coinbase’s x402 agent payment protocol and offers an XRPL x402 facilitator that allows AI agents to pay for services using XRP and RLUSD.

Last month, t54 announced a collaboration with Evernorth, a Ripple backed digital asset treasury firm targeting more than $1 billion in institutional XRP holdings.
