Google opened pre-orders for the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL on August 12, at $899, $1,099 and $1,299. All three phones reach stores next week.

The Big Picture

  • Google priced the Pixel 11 at $899, the Pixel 11 Pro at $1,099 and the Pixel 11 Pro XL at $1,299.
  • Tensor G6 runs on-device AI tasks up to 3.5 times faster while using up to 3.5 times less energy, Google says.
  • Pixel 11’s camera bar is 40% thinner than the previous generation’s, which Google says leaves the phone nearly bumpless in a case.
  • Pro models add HiLight, a ring of colored LEDs around the flash that signals calls and Gemini activity while the phone sits face down.
  • Titan M3 brings post-quantum cryptography to secure boot, and all three phones get seven years of OS and security updates.

Google prices the Pixel 11 line from $899

Pre-orders opened alongside Google’s product announcement, with retail availability at the Google Store and partner stores on August 20. Every model starts at 256GB of storage, a floor Google held across the line instead of reserving it for the Pro tier.

The Pro pair carries the display upgrades: a Super Actua panel rated up to 3,600 nits and a coating that Google says more than doubles the scratch resistance of the previous generation. Pixel 11 keeps the Actua display, a satin metal frame and a polished glass back, and ships in Pistachio, Hibiscus, Frost and Obsidian. The Pro colors are Canyon, Fog, Olive and an all-matte Obsidian.

Charging is where the spec sheet gets uneven. Google lists Qi 2.2 compatibility at 25W as new to the Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro, and that sentence never names the Pixel 11 Pro XL; the XL gets a wired claim instead, 15 hours of battery from a 15-minute charge. Anyone about to buy Qi 2.2 accessories for an XL pre-order should confirm the spec with Google first, because the announcement doesn’t state it. Google puts battery life at more than 30 hours and wireless charging at 25% faster than the Pixel 10.

Meet Google Pixel 11 Pro

Tensor G6 moves the AI work on device

Google’s own figures make the chip look incremental on the CPU and much larger on the AI side. Web browsing runs 25% faster and apps launch 15% quicker, while the TPU carries 50% more compute, which Google pairs with the latest Gemini Nano model for the 3.5x speed and 3.5x efficiency claims. None of those comparisons name their baseline hardware in the announcement.

The security half of the story got less stage time and will probably age better. A new Titan M3 chip works with Tensor G6 to bring [post-quantum cryptography to secure boot, hardening the startup chain against an attack class that has no deployable form today. Google credits a 2026 Counterpoint Research scorecard for its claim that Pixel’s AI experience carries the most privacy protection on a phone, though the post doesn’t spell out what the scorecard measured. Assessed practice helps reduce risk; it does not remove it.

Camera hardware carries most of the upgrade

The Pixel 11 gets a larger 48-megapixel main sensor with 56% more light sensitivity, and Tensor G6 pushes its 5x telephoto to 30x Super Zoom. Pro buyers get a new main sensor that Google calls its best camera yet without publishing a resolution for it, plus a redesigned 48-megapixel telephoto with 30% more light sensitivity and Portrait Mode enabled at 5x. Pro Zoom now reaches 120x.

Night Sight captures up to 4.5 times faster on the upgraded image signal processor and rewritten software, and that is the change most likely to register in ordinary use, since it shortens the hold-still window. Google published no sample-based comparison against rival flagships, so the claims sit on its own testing until reviewers get hardware. Several specifics stayed out of the announcement:

  • The resolution and sensor size of the Pro’s new main camera.
  • The baseline device behind the 4.5x Night Sight and 3.5x AI figures.
  • Whether the Pixel 11 Pro XL supports 25W Qi 2.2 wireless charging.
  • Battery capacity for each model, beyond the 30-hour claim.

What do we think?

The pitch this year rests on hardware that gets out of the way. A thinner camera bar, a phone that sits flat on a table, 256GB as the entry storage tier and seven years of updates all point at cost of ownership more than at any single feature; the AI story runs underneath, on silicon, where a faster TPU mostly shows up as a shorter wait. HiLight is the one genuinely new interaction, and its value depends on whether glanceable LED patterns keep people off their screens, which no spec sheet can settle.

What’s next: retail units land next week, and independent testing should follow within days on the Night Sight timing, the 30-hour battery figure and the thermal behavior of Tensor G6 under sustained AI load. Google says more HiLight capabilities are coming, including message notifications from chosen contacts. Pro buyers taking the six months of Google AI Pro should check what the plan costs afterward, and anyone tracking on-device AI adoption will want teardowns before treating the efficiency numbers as settled.
