Ahold Delhaize is experiencing a security issue within its network, it said on October 12, 2026. The websites and apps of Albert Heijn and subsidiary brands Etos and Gall & Gall have been down since Sunday evening.
Key Facts
- No online orders are possible at this time for Albert Heijn, Etos or Gall & Gall. Their sites and apps are down.
- Albert Heijn operates nearly 1,300 stores in the Netherlands and the Flanders region of Belgium. Its Dutch market share is over 38%.
- Ahold Delhaize is taking some systems offline to help protect them. Albert Heijn’s loyalty program is also not working.
- The company did not elaborate on what the “IT incident” was, and it is also unclear when it will be resolved.
Stores stay open while shelf labels and loyalty lag
In an Ahold Delhaize release, the company said its stores are open and serving customers. Its teams are taking steps to assess and mitigate the issue. Protecting our infrastructure in the best interest of our customers, associates and partners is a top priority. The release then apologized for any inconvenience this issue may have caused customers and partners.
Shoppers meet friction at the shelf, according to NL Times, which cited NU.nl. Electronic shelf labels may display incorrect prices, still showing last week’s promotions, while current prices are applied at the checkout. Albert Heijn asked customers to keep their receipts so that their missed discounts can be compensated, the report said.
‼️ BREAKING: Albert Heijn, the biggest Dutch supermarket chain, has halted online grocery deliveries after a cybersecurity incident. It and its sister drugstore and liquor chains switched off their websites, apps and customer service. In stores, shelf labels still show last week’s discounts.

The Albert Heijn app opens, but won’t load any content. It only shows the individual Bonus savings card associated with the user. On 2025 data, the app is used by over 5.5 million customers.
Four labels circulate and none names a cause
The Ahold Delhaize release uses two labels. Its headline says cybersecurity incident. The text says security issue within its network.
Albert Heijn cited an “IT incident,” while RetailDetail wrote that the parent calls it a “large-scale IT outage.”
None of the four labels says an attacker was involved.
RetailDetail said the outage led to a series of systems being shut down as a precaution. It also said customer service is difficult to reach. In its account, the websites, loyalty programs, and mobile apps of Albert Heijn, Etos, and Gall & Gall are temporarily unavailable in the Benelux.
The failures cluster in customer-facing layers: web, app, loyalty and shelf labels, while checkout still applies current prices. Which systems were isolated is not stated.
The release names no attacker, no method and no affected data, and it sets no restoration time. The next marker is a status update from Ahold Delhaize.
