Nvidia and Palantir have unveiled a new sovereign AI operating system reference architecture designed to help organizations deploy secure and fully integrated AI data centers.

Quick Summary – TLDR:

  • Palantir and Nvidia launched a sovereign AI OS reference architecture for enterprise AI infrastructure.
  • The system delivers a complete AI data center setup from hardware procurement to application deployment.
  • It combines Nvidia AI infrastructure with Palantir software platforms like AIP, Foundry, Apollo, and Rubix.
  • The architecture gives organizations greater control over data, AI models, and applications in sensitive environments.

What Happened?

Palantir Technologies and Nvidia announced a new sovereign AI OS reference architecture aimed at helping organizations deploy advanced artificial intelligence systems while maintaining full control over their data and infrastructure. The platform delivers a production ready AI data center architecture that integrates hardware, software, and management tools into a single solution.

The collaboration brings together Nvidia AI computing infrastructure and Palantir’s enterprise software stack, offering businesses and government organizations a streamlined way to build and operate AI systems.

A Turnkey AI Data Center Architecture

The newly introduced Palantir AI OS Reference Architecture is designed to deliver a complete AI infrastructure environment. It builds on Nvidia Enterprise Reference Architectures and has been tested to run Palantir’s full software ecosystem.

This includes platforms such as:

  • AIP, Palantir’s enterprise AI platform that connects large language models with organizational data.
  • Foundry, which manages data operations and analytics workflows.
  • Apollo, which automates deployment and lifecycle management.
  • Rubix, a zero-trust Kubernetes management layer.
  • AIP Hub, which helps organizations manage AI applications.

Together these systems provide a fully integrated AI environment that supports everything from model training to operational deployment.

Built on Nvidia AI Infrastructure

The architecture is powered by Nvidia Blackwell Ultra systems, equipped with eight Blackwell Ultra GPUs designed to accelerate AI training and inference tasks.

Networking is handled through Nvidia Spectrum X Ethernet, which supports high performance AI workloads and large scale data movement.

The solution also integrates Nvidia’s software acceleration stack, including:

  • Nvidia AI Enterprise.
  • CUDA X libraries for GPU accelerated computing.
  • Nemotron open models for AI development.
  • Magnum IO for high performance data movement.

These technologies work together to help organizations process massive datasets and train advanced AI models more efficiently.

Focus on Data Sovereignty and Security

One of the key goals of the joint architecture is enabling data sovereignty. This allows enterprises and government agencies to maintain full ownership and control over their data, AI models, and applications.

The platform supports deployment across on premises infrastructure, edge environments, and sovereign cloud environments, making it suitable for organizations that must operate within strict regulatory or security requirements.

The system is particularly valuable for organizations that already have existing GPU infrastructure, operate latency sensitive workloads, or manage operations across multiple geographic regions.

Akshay Krishnaswamy, Chief Architect at Palantir, highlighted the importance of secure deployments in sensitive environments.

“

Our software has had to meet the moment in the most complex and sensitive environments where customers must maintain control. Together with NVIDIA and building on many customers’ existing investments we are proud to deliver a fully integrated AI operating system that is optimized for NVIDIA accelerated compute infrastructure and enables customers to realize the promise of on premises, edge, and sovereign cloud deployments.

A New Model for Enterprise AI

The partnership represents a broader shift in how enterprise AI infrastructure is built. Instead of deploying separate hardware, software, and AI tools, organizations can adopt a full stack AI architecture optimized from silicon to application layer.

Justin Boitano, vice president of Enterprise AI Platforms at Nvidia, emphasized the growing need for integrated AI systems.

“

AI is redefining the infrastructure stack demanding latency sensitive and data sovereign environments require a full stack architecture built from silicon to systems to software. By combining Palantir’s sovereign AI OS reference architecture with NVIDIA AI infrastructure industries and nations can turn data into intelligence with speed efficiency and trust.

SQ Magazine’s Takeaway

I think this partnership shows how quickly the AI infrastructure race is evolving. Companies are no longer just competing on models or software. They are building complete AI ecosystems that integrate chips, networking, software platforms, and operational tools.

The collaboration between Nvidia and Palantir could make it easier for governments and enterprises to deploy AI securely while keeping control of sensitive data. If sovereign AI becomes a priority for more countries and industries, this kind of integrated architecture may become the blueprint for future AI data centers.

Definition of AI Inference. Link to full glossary entry follows the description.AI Inference

AI inference is the execution phase where a trained AI model applies what it learned to new, unseen data and produces an output such as a prediction.
