FIGHT NIGHT PREVIEW: Chris Eubank Jr + Tyson Fury

Posted on Saturday, 12 November by

Saturday night sees two of the UK’s brightest boxing prospects take to the ring in the shape of Tyson Fury and Brighton’s own Chris Eubank Jr.

While hotly-tipped Heavyweight prospect Fury has been garnering much attention over the previous 24 months or so, as much of the focus from the public will be darted at young Eubank, son of the legendary former world champion, Chris Snr.

It’s been a whirlwind week for the youngster who only officially signed with promoters Hennessy Sports just two days ago. He’s now set to make his professional debut in Manchester tonight on the Fury undercard.

Eubank Jr has already been hyped by Mick Hennessy as “…the best middleweight in this country even without have a pro fight”, while Eubank Sr says his son has the potential to be an even better fighter than he was.

We’ll get a taste of what the future holds as Chris Jr takes on Lithuania’s Kirrilis Psonko in a six-round bout tonight.

While the debut of Chris Eubank Jr provides very welcome entertainment, the main event sees huge Commonwealth heavyweight champion Tyson Fury defend his title against Neven Pajkic, who’s weighing in at nearly two stone lighter than the giant Fury.

Having beaten Dereck Chisora in a cracker of a contest earlier this year, Fury has solidified himself as Britain’s most promising Heavyweight contender and as his name suggests, he has the potential to be Box-Office gold.

While there has been premature talk of Fury taking on one of the Klitschkos, his unbeaten record needs a few more names added to it before he can be talked of in such circumstances and Pajkic should be tailor made for Tyson, having only stopped five opponents in 16 fights thus far.

If all goes to plan, this hopes to be a knockout night for British boxing.

Coverage starts on Channel 5 from 9:45pm.
