Adobe on September 24, 2026 brought tools from Photoshop, Lightroom, Express and Firefly into Google Gemini across every plan. It also folded Acrobat into its Claude plugin, which now puts more than 80 Adobe tools inside a single Claude conversation.

Adobe built the move around where people now begin their work. “Increasingly, that work is starting inside AI chatbot platforms, where people brainstorm ideas, solve problems and get things done,” Adobe wrote in its announcement.
Claude gets Acrobat and hands-on editing
Claude gets the bigger upgrade of the two. Adobe merged Acrobat into the creative plugin it brought to Claude in April. One install now covers Acrobat alongside Express, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Lightroom, InDesign and Adobe Stock. The plugin runs in Claude and Claude Code on desktop, mobile and web.

Adobe listed these Acrobat functions for the plugin:
- Organize PDFs by deleting, combining or splitting pages
- Redact sensitive information
- Convert or export PDFs to other file formats
- Open a file in the new interactive editor to reorder pages, edit text, or add comments and highlights
A new Document Review skill goes a step further. Users can ask Claude to analyze a document, and Claude then drops recommendations and notations straight into the editor.
Express designs get their own layer-based editor. Adobe said users can select images, copy, colors and fonts one by one, then change them without regenerating the whole design. Until now, edits in Claude ran through conversational prompts, so fixing a single off-brand font could mean asking for a fresh version.
Access comes in tiers. Guests can use the plugin without an account. Signing in with an Adobe account raises usage limits, adds tools and keeps work continuous across sessions. Claude users on the older Adobe connector don’t need to reinstall anything, since Adobe says it updates to the new plugin automatically.
Gemini starts with four Adobe apps
Gemini’s version is narrower for now. Adobe’s launch list draws on Photoshop, Lightroom, Express and Firefly, and it names no Acrobat, Illustrator or Premiere tools. The draw here is reach. Adobe pointed to Google’s figure of more than one billion monthly Gemini users.
Adobe aimed the Gemini tools at sellers and marketers. Users can upload product shots and ask Adobe to optimize lighting and color, crop them consistently and ready a set for a storefront. They can also turn one design into social-ready versions that keep the same branding. Express templates matched to a campaign, audience and style round out the list.
Connecting is short. Users open Personal Intelligence in Gemini, pick Adobe under connected apps and sign in; anyone without an Adobe account can create one for free. Adobe says it “orchestrates the right tools and steps to get you there,” so users describe an outcome rather than pick an app.
Why It Matters?
The split between the two launches is telling. Adobe now sits inside ChatGPT, Claude, Slack, Copilot and Gemini. Claude has documents and manual editors, while Gemini gets image and marketing work first. That gap suggests Adobe opens a new platform with its most recognizable creative apps.
Several questions remain open. Adobe hasn’t said when, or whether, Acrobat will reach Gemini. It also hasn’t published the guest usage limits in Claude, or said if Gemini will get the interactive editors.
Both rollouts began globally with the announcement. Adobe framed Gemini as the opening move. The next additions to that four-app list will show how fast Google’s assistant catches up with Claude.
