# Industry Deep Dive: The Stats Behind Casino Ratings

A rating of 4.6 out of 5 presents itself as a fact, but the process behind it is closer to a formula than a measurement. An editor selects five or six factors, assigns each one a weight, and combines them into a single number. Consider a system where payout speed carries 30 percent of the weighting and game range carries 10 percent. ## Ranking Movement Depends on Precision

Ratings across most platforms cluster within a narrow range. On typical lists, the top 20 casinos fall between 3.8 and 5.0, meaning the entire ranking operates within a band of roughly 1.2 points. Within that band, a difference of 0.1 can shift a listing’s position by four or five places.

Ties are resolved without any stated process.
