WATCH: What happens when you reach level 999 on Flappy Bird

Okay, we’ll be the first to admit it: this isn’t what happens when you reach level 999 of Flappy Bird – we haven’t tested it ourselves, but I don’t think we need to.

The popular mobile game was recently pulled from the iOS and Android app stores worldwide after the game’s creator Dong Nguyen decided the attention on him was too much and enough was enough.

The game, which took just two to three days to create, was raking in nearly $50,000 a day in advertising revenue, Mr Nguyen said in an interview.

Players have been sharing pithy and humorous reviews of the game via Twitter and other social media platforms, recounting their exasperation at its apparently addictive qualities.

Its popularity grew even further when one YouTube channel with more than 22 million subscribers reviewed the game.
