DMX George Zimmerman Fight

Certified rap legend DMX has been named as the opponent for George Zimmerman – the man controversially acquitted of murdering unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin in the United States last summer – in what is sure to be the most bizarre boxing match of this lifetime.

After it was rumoured that other names in hip-hop circles were set to step into the ring with the universally-loathed Zimmerman, promoter of the fight – Damon Feldman – has picked out DMX from thousands of entries, according to TMZ.

Speaking to TMZ last week, the ‘X Gon Give It To Ya’ rapper characteristically said:

I am going to beat the living f**k out him. I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure I f**k him right up. Once I am done with him, I am going to whip my d**k out and piss on him…right in his muthaf**kin face.

Zimmerman is a piece of s**t and that’s what he needs to drink.”

The announcement comes on the day of Trayvon Martin’s birthday. Zimmerman was found not guilty on all charges after he fatally shot unarmed 17-year-old Martin during a fight inside a gated community in Sanford. The 30-year-old claimed that he had killed Martin in an act of self-defence.

The decision not to charge Zimmerman for 44 days after the shooting resulted in nationwide protests and sparked intense debate about racial profiling in US law enforcement. Demonstrations were sparked again in 2013 once Zimmerman was acquitted.

Promoters have tried to soothe the wave of negative publicity coming at the decision to put an alleged race-related murderer in the ring with a rapper who has a record of animal cruelty, drug possession and assault…but it’s a little too late for that.

Only in America.
