This is how the EastEnders cast will look after a Shoreditch makeover

EastEnders Shoreditch

Throwing Danny Dyer into EastEnders’ Queen Vic certainly riled up a few fans of the show, but the BBC’s latest plans may just put a nail into the show’s proverbial coffin.

I am of course talking about the plans to drag the long-running soap out of its 1980s timewarp and directly into the modern day (or as close as possible) by reflecting gentrified east London, promising to introduce “the edges of Shoreditch” to the show.

Concocted last week during a four-day story conference at the Hackney square used as inspiration for the show’s location when it began in 1985, the EastEnders writing team thrashed out plots for the next three month’s worth of episodes. Thankfully for us, the Huffington Post have kindly re-imagined what the current crop of actors would look like having undergone a hipster makeover.

A parody Twitter account has already sprung up…

I’m guessing we can expect the Old Vic to now be the new home of spoken word evenings with blue moon sipping ironically-tached hipsters bowling about the square then?
