It’s looking like a good time to be a Brighton based hip-hop lover. A little over one week before legendary rap icons Public Enemy are set to make a trip to the coast, underground hero Immortal Technique appears at Concorde 2 later this month.
Born in Peru, Immortal Technique immigrated to Harlem, New York in the early 80s as a civil was breaking out in his native country. Immortal Technique may have escaped the third world, but life in Harlem was a different kind of struggle, which eventually led him in prison on a two-year stretch.
In prison Immortal Technique started writing down his lyrics and left with a new focus on music. Known for his politically charged lyrics and aggressive yet captivating performances, Immortal Technique has refused to mould himself or turn mainstream, and remains a fiercely independent artist with a revolutionary message.
Immortal Technique is a far cry from many of the airhead rappers today, don’t miss out.
