GENERATE want young artists to join them at Towner this summer

Posted on Friday, 10 August by

Young artists aged between 13 – 19 are invited to come along to Towner during the summer holidays and be part of the GENERATE Crew – an exciting arts project based at the award-winning contemporary art museum.

From Tuesday 21 to Friday 24 August, young people can come along for free and join in the creative fun with some fantastic artists.

On Tuesday 21 August, graffiti artist Tom Goulden will be there to help create a large scale, group landscape using graffiti pens and paint. Visitors will be able to work as a team, whilst adding their own ideas to the canvas for the biggest impact.

Photographer Lynn Weddle will be at Towner on Wednesday 22 August, helping the crew to perfect their photography skills in her self-portrait studio workshop. Everyone will create a self-portrait that voices their thoughts and feelings about the world.

‘Artmail’ will be taking place on Thursday 23 and Friday 24 August with artist Hannah Coxeter, inspired by the airmail paintings by international contemporary artist Eugenio Dittborn currently on show at Towner. Gather images and stories to inspire layering, painting, photo transfer and drawing on paper and fabric, then pack them up to post to another gallery and await their response in September!

Sessions take place from 2 till 4pm daily and on Friday friends and family will be invited to come and see what everyone has created before it’s taken home.
