It’s been a whole year since Wretch 32 dropped his major label debut and reinvigorated the UK rap scene, so after being the face of Adidas for London 2012, it’s good to see he’s back in the studio doing what he does best.
‘Drinking the Sky’ is the first track to unleashed from Wretch’s new mixtape, and he’s called in long-time collaborator and fellow UK rapper Chip (the artist formerly known as Chipmunk…) to help him along. S-X has produced the smooth, mid-tempo beat and it’s a sound that fits with what we already know about Wretch.
If anything, this is proof that Wretch 32′s lyrics won’t be dumbed down despite his success, which can only ever be a good thing. Expect more to come in the near future, he’s already announced that the mixtape, ‘Wretchercise’, will be available later this year.
