Dizzee Rascal has recorded an official song for London 2012, teaming up with Pepper on a track entitled ‘Scream’.
The release is one of five official Olympic songs with Muse, Chemical Brothers, Elton John & Pnau and Delphic having already recorded theirs, for a diverse range of sounds to represent Great Britain.
Dizzee’s track features an artist named Pepper who he signed to his record label, Dirtee Stank, after hearing her sing on the TV show Must Be The Music – on which he was a judge.
The nation have already had ‘Shout’, a track by the Bow-born MC featuring James Corden for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which knocked Tinie Tempah off the top spot to reach number 1.
But the same cannot be said for the Euro 2012 remake which peaked at number 43 in the iTunes chart. So is yet another track from Dizzee Rascal what we need?
The ‘Bonkers’ star will no doubt perform the song at the Olympic Torch Relay Finale concert at London’s Hyde Park on Thursday (26th July), so it will be interesting to see what the fans think.
Let’s hope this is not just a stunt to get an easy number 1 from the rapper.
The single is out on the 5th August 2012 – let us know your thoughts and comments below.
