Hampden Park Sports Centre will be hosting its first ever Racketlon tournament on Saturday 16th July.
Racketlon is growing sport in which individuals compete in four different events – table tennis, squash, badminton and tennis. The Lawson Lewis and co. Eastbourne Racketlon Open is for both adults and children with various categories including; elite to beginners, ladies and under 16’s. The entry fee is £12.50 per person with the matches taking place from 1pm-7pm.
The tournament is part of the UK racketlon tour which began in 2006 and participants are able to win British ranking points.
England racketlon player Stuart Holden and UK tour player Daniel Woodley will be hosting the day and are encouraging players to take part and learn about the sport. Woodley said, “We definitely want people of all abilities to come down and try their hand at it, anyone who enjoys sport will have a lot of fun, they don’t even have to own equipment.
“Hopefully this will become an annual event in Eastbourne as the sport has the potential to get even bigger.”
Further details on the sport and on-line entry to the event can be found at www.englishracketlon.org.
